Dr Thornton Smith has been our family GP for over a decade and not many people get to say that any more. We count ourselves very lucky. On the occasions we have had to make an appointment we have always found him to be calm, considerate and extremely knowledgeable. He is friendly, approachable and realistic and i trust his opinion.

Dr Thornton-Smith has been incredibly helpful since he has been my doctor. With his advice and treatment, I have resolved long-standing addiction and mental health issues. Decades of panic attacks, depression and exhaustion resulted in countless trips to many different doctors. Dr Thornton-Smith managed my situation with respect, humanity, and efficiency. I don’t know how he manages to find the time to keep up-to-date with new research in medicine, addiction and psychology, but I’m very grateful that he does. He supported me through a rehab program and subsequent ADHD diagnosis. Thanks to this I have been sober for 5 years and have a quality of life I did not think possible. I am no longer the burden on the NHS I once was, as with the right diagnosis and treatment in place, I can finally get on with my life. Dr Thornton-Smith has excellent people skills and is widely respected. He is open-minded and genuinely listens to his patients. He also manages to get to the root of the problem quickly, but without ever making one feel harried. He has a reputation in the community for being perceptive and experienced. I think this is why he is good at allocating resources where they are needed, rather than throwing out ‘fishing referrals’. He is a great asset to Arundel and the surrounding areas.
